Aasaaska Foundation
Aasaaska is an Indigenous Black Latina Woman owned, young BIPOC Male led Urban Farming and Beekeeping organization within the city of Hartford.
The experience of producing what one needs to consume teaches lessons in community economic self-sufficiency, nutrition, science, fitness, social justice and more. In addition to growing produce, the beekeeping aspect reminds us that there are no limits on what we can do!
Specialty Crops for our community
Aasaaska uses our growing spaces to grow an abundance of specialty crops. We have been blessed with the ability to sell and donate produce successfully for our community.
The people of Aasaaska are urban farmers and beekeepers that provide hives and maintenance to other farmers to assist with pollination, while providing education on our pollinators and threats they face such as climate change and pesticides. We practice organic, regenerative, and sustainable methods of both farming and raising our bees.
We cater to our immigrant/ expat community with our produce that mostly consist of Exotic peppers and okras of many sorts. We also grow plenty of other produce such as cucumbers, tomatoes, beets, onions and herbs.
